The INA Actively Participates in NTIA’s Night Time Economy Summit 2025

We’re thrilled to announce that the International Nightlife Association (INA) activally participated in the Night Time Economy Summit this past week (February 5-6, 2025), at the Hockley Social Club in Birmingham, UK! This groundbreaking event brought together over 2,000 attendees250 speakers, and industry leaders from over 20 countries across six stages to shape the future of the Night Time Economy.
 
The INA and its member association, Night Time Industries Association (NTIA UK), were honored to welcome participants from 20 countries across AsiaAustraliaEuropeSouth America, the United States, and the Middle East. The summit once again proved to be a premier platform for fostering international and domestic collaboration and dialogue within the nightlife industry. Attendees represented a diverse range of countries, including Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Colombia, England, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Portugal, the Republic of Ireland, Saudi Arabia, Scotland, Spain, the United States, and Wales.
 
The INA Took Part in Three Key Panels on the Global Influence of Nightlife, Its Presence Across Territories, and Sustainability in the Industry
 
On day one, the International Nightlife Association (INA) hosted the panel "International Nightlife Association Releasing the Global Power of Nightlife" on Stage 1, bringing together key industry leaders to explore the impact of nightlife on global economies, tourism, and cultural development. Moderated by Joaquim Boadas de Quintana, General Secretary of the INA, the discussion featured Helking Aguilar, President of the Mexican Nightlife Association (AMBADIC), Mick Gibb CEO of NTIA Australia, Tak Umezawa Nighttime Advisor from Japan, Simone d’Antonio from URBACT in Italy, and Rodolfo Di Pinto President of the Nightlife Federation of Argentina (FEDRA). Panelists shared insights on how nightlife serves as a driving force for economic growth, job creation, and urban revitalization, while also addressing challenges such as regulation, safety, and sustainability. The session highlighted innovative strategies from different regions, emphasizing the importance of international collaboration to unlock the full potential of the nightlife industry.
 
Also, the INA co-hosted the "Nightlife Across Territories: Innovations, Approaches, and Insights" roundtable discussion, featuring a diverse panel of representatives from the UK, Colombia, Mexico, Australia, Argentina, Japan, Ukraine, Canada, Italy, Estonia, the Republic of Ireland, the USA, Germany, the Netherlands, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Spain, and Wales. Moderated by Michael Kill (CEO of NTIA) and Joaquim Boadas (INA General Secretary), the session explored the unique challenges and opportunities faced by nightlife industries across different regions. Discussions focused on policy innovations, regulatory frameworks, and strategies for fostering safer, more inclusive, and economically sustainable nightlife ecosystems. Panellists also shared collaborative approaches to enhance the global nightlife sector, reinforcing the importance of cross-border dialogue and cooperation.
 
Lastly, on Day 2, the panel "Changing Mindsets Around Sustainability in Nightlife"explored the crucial topic of sustainability in the nightlife industry. Moderated by Claire O'Neil (AFG), the discussion included Joaquim Boadas (Secretary General of the INA)Camille Guitteau (Bye Bye Plastic), Dave Townsend (Bodyheat/Town Rock Energy), and Phil Korbel (Co-Founder Carbon Literacy). The panelists examined how the nightlife sector can shift its approach to sustainability by adopting eco-friendly practices and technologies. Topics included reducing plastic waste, integrating renewable energy solutions, and fostering carbon literacy among industry professionals.
 
Also, Joaquim Boadas spoke about the international nightlife distinction,International Nightlife Quality Service (INQS) and the requirements advised by the Bye Bye Plastic Foundation regarding sustainability that venues need to implement to achieve said distinction. Some of them include waste reduction, having renewable energy, and eliminating single-use plastic. Through this conversation, the panel highlighted the importance of collaboration and awareness to drive positive environmental change within the global nightlife community. Also, Boadasmentioned the importance of the INA recently becoming a consultative member of the UN through the Conference of Non-Governmental Organisations (CoNGO)and the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Additionally, Boadas spoke about the importance of the upcoming launch of the Faculty of Nightlife Studies together with Appleton Private University in which courses, diplomas, and degrees will include matters regarding sustainability and environmental studies.
 
The Night Time Economy Summit 2025 has served as a vital platform for reimagining nightlife, celebrating its cultural impact, and driving innovation across industries and the opportunity to speak to other countries, offering them to join the INA. Also, the INA has met with partners and suppliers to expand benefits to their members.
