International NightLife Association

7TH-8TH OCTOBER 2015 - HARD ROCK HOTEL IBIZA

During the 7th and 8th of October 2015 the Hard Rock Hotel of Ibiza hosted the 2nd International Nightlife Congress and the 1st Golden Moon Awards. Institutional events organized jointly by International Nightlife Association and European Nightlife, Spain Nightlife and entertainment of Ibiza, associations with the support of the Consell Insular of Ibiza.

Within the framework of the 2nd International Nightlife Congress developed during the 7th and 8th of October, international renown speakers covered different topics that dealt with noise pollution, safety, alcohol and taxes.

1st Conference: “Nightlife and Noise Pollution”

• Maurizio Pasca, President of the Italian Nightlife Association (SILB), President of the European Nightlife Association and 2nd Vice President of the International Nightlife Association talked about "Nightlife and noise pollution in Italy"

• Ana Espinel, General Director of Audiotec Group talked about "Applicable international regulations in the acoustic readings of nightlife entertainment venues. Defence mechanisms available to nightlife entrepreneurs in regards to improperly performed acoustic readings" 

• Paul Seres, Founding Trustee of the New York City Hospitality Alliance and former President of the New York Nightlife Association talked about "Nightlife and New York City, How the City and Nightlife industry have worked together to keep the city that doesn’t sleep operating"

• Marçal Serra, Acoustics Manager at CESVA Instruments talked about "Night-time leisure noise control in Smart Cities”

2nd Conference: “Nightlife and Alcohol”

• Christian de Barrin, HOTREC CEO talked about "Best voluntary practices developed by the European hospitality sector to curb alcohol related harm: the mirror of a responsible sector"

• Jim Peters, President of the Responsible Hospitality Institute of North America talked about "Sociability is an Economic Engine - Alcohol is the Fuel"

• Irene Rodríguez, Training Director of the Spanish Institute for Quality Tourism (ICTE) talked about "Strategies to combat «street drinking» and «drunken tourism». Q for quality. Q for guarantee"

• Paul Skehan, General Director of spiritsEUROPE talked about "Profit & responsibility: two sides of the same coin"

3rd Conference: “Nightlife and Security”

• Miquel Picas, COO of ICDQ Group talked about "The «Secure Nightlife Venue», the International Nightlife Security seal to promote nightlife venue clients’ safety"

• Jerry Kane, New York’s Police Department Detective Sergeant talked about "Public safety challenges for the NYPD involving bars and nightclubs in New York City including first hand experiences"

• Robert Keys, New York’s Fire Department Battalion Chief  talked about "Lessons learned from fatal nightclub fires worldwide"

• Yolanda Perdomo, Director of the Affiliate Members Programme of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) talked about "Security and Tourism"

4rd Conference: “Nightlife and Taxes”

• Juan Carlos Diaz, President of the American Nightlife Association (NCIAA) and 1st Vicepresident of the International Nightlife Association for America talked about "The influence of sales taxes on American nightlife businesses"

• Santiago Janer, Principal Associate at Garrigues Tax Department talked about "VAT impact in the nightlife industry"

• Salvador Pastoriza, Senior Associate at Garrigues Tax Department in Brussels talked about "VAT applicable to the nightlife sector in the EU: a comparative analysis"

• Miguel Ángel Catena, Tax Coordinator Inspector of the General Subdirectorate of the Spanish Ministry of Finance talked about "Nightlife VAT in Spain"
